Second Edition of Sierra Leone Diaspora Youth Summit to be Held in London
The Youth Envoy of Sierra Leone, Ambassador Yulisa Ahmadu, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and the Sierra Leone High Commission in the UK, is set to host the second edition of the Sierra Leone Diaspora Youth Summit on November 14th, 2024, in London.
Following the resounding success of the inaugural summit in the United States earlier this year, the upcoming event aims to deepen engagement with Sierra Leonean youth in the diaspora. It will create an important platform for growth, collaboration, and inspiration, particularly for young Sierra Leoneans aspiring to make a mark in business and development.
This year's summit, expanding to the United Kingdom, will offer Sierra Leonean youth an invaluable opportunity to engage with the international business community. The focus will be on educating participants about business prospects in Sierra Leone, connecting them with potential investors and mentors, and encouraging entrepreneurial ventures that can contribute to the nation’s development.
The event will feature an impressive lineup of keynote speakers, including Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, Dr. David Sengeh, and His Worship Eddie Hanson, Deputy Mayor of the London Borough of Camden. Additionally, the summit will welcome influential figures such as HE Asmaa James, Sierra Leone’s Deputy Ambassador to Belgium, Hon. Sidi Tunnis, former ECOWAS Speaker, Ambassador Junior Navo, CEO of AYV Media Empire, and Mohamed Orman Bangura, Sierra Leone’s Minister of Youth Affairs. Renowned Public Relations and Communications Strategist, Vickie Remoe, will also address the gathering.
Expected to attract a dynamic mix of young entrepreneurs, established business leaders, and government officials, the summit offers participants the opportunity to gain insights from leading experts across various sectors. They will be able to explore international business ventures, forge critical connections, and strengthen ties with influential figures committed to Sierra Leone’s development.
A key highlight of the event will be the launch of the Sierra Leone Young Professionals Forum portal, which will serve as a registration hub for skilled young professionals in the diaspora. This initiative is designed to bridge the brain drain gap by channeling their expertise toward nation-building, in alignment with President Julius Maada Bio’s vision of radical inclusion of youth in national progress.
The second edition of the Sierra Leone Diaspora Youth Summit is set to serve as a critical bridge between talented young Sierra Leoneans abroad and the expanding opportunities back home. This event continues the mission of fostering collaboration and building a brighter, more prosperous future for the nation’s youth.
