MBSSE Announces Registration Process for November 2024 Private WASSCE Candidates

The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) has officially announced that all candidates verified for the November 2024 Private West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) should now proceed with their registration on the West African Examination Council (WAEC) online portal. This applies to candidates who have been provided with PINs and serial numbers. According to the Ministry, the portal reopened on Tuesday, 17th September 2024, at 12:00 PM and will remain accessible until Thursday, 19th September 2024, at 12:00 Midnight. MBSSE has urged all eligible candidates, school heads, and parents to ensure that the registration process is completed within this timeframe to avoid any inconveniences. Public Accounts Committee Uncovers Missing Ministry of Health Vehicles

The Ministry of Health in Sierra Leone is currently under scrutiny for its inability to account for 238 vehicles within its fleet. This alarming revelation was made by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), which discovered that the ministry lacks an asset register, leading to significant concerns about transparency and accountability in the management of public assets. According to the audit, officials from the Ministry of Health failed to comply with multiple requests for vehicle inspection. Of the 286 vehicles registered in the Western Area, 238 were not presented for physical verification. Furthermore, it was revealed that many of these vehicles were neither licensed nor insured, a clear violation of Section 11.1 of the 2020 Government Vehicle and Fleet Policy. MBSSE Hands Over Newly Constructed Schools in Pujehun District

The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), with support from the Government of Sierra Leone and international partners including Irish Aid, the European Union, and the World Bank, has officially handed over newly built primary schools to the communities of Gbesseh in Galliness Chiefdom and Kpombu in Malen Chiefdom, Pujehun District. These state-of-the-art facilities are a significant milestone under the Free Education Project Secretariat (FEPS). Each of the Community Primary Schools is equipped with six classrooms and an administrative block, which includes a headteacher's office, a staff room, and a library.
