On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, Magistrate Santigie Bangura resumed hearing a case at Court No. 2, Pademba Road, previously adjourned. The case focuses on key events involving the accused, Hussein Ant, Jamal Antar, and Suliaman Barrie. The prosecution presented Alhaji Kabha, the Operations Manager for Global Aviation, as a witness, whose testimony provided crucial details about the accused and the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.
Alhaji Kabha, a seasoned employee with over 12 years at Global Aviation, testified, led by State Counsel Yusuf Trade Sesay Esq. Kabha explained his role in handling import, export, and transit documentation for the company. He recounted events starting from November 11, 2023, when he encountered the accused Hussein Ant in Waterloo and identified Jamal Antar as the receiver of one of the containers. Kabha described his responsibilities, which included processing containers through Water Quay, Cline Town, and supervising their scanning and release from customs.
According to Kabha, on November 10, 2023, he processed and scanned containers labeled “JTK” and later coordinated their transport to Waterloo under instructions from his superior, Ibrahim Bashiru Kamara. Kabha's detailed testimony covered the timeline of events from October 1, 2023, to July 29, 2024, providing the court with important insights.
During cross-examination by defense counsel I.S.Y. Kamara Esq., medical documents for the accused were presented. However, the State Counsel opposed a bail application due to the severity of the charges. Magistrate Bangura denied bail but instructed that the accused be taken to the medical department of the Correctional Services for appropriate treatment.
The case continues to unfold, with further developments expected as testimony and evidence are examined.
