APC Endorses New Disciplinary Committee and Polling Officers in Constituency 123

The All People’s Congress (APC) continues to strengthen its internal governance by launching and endorsing a Disciplinary Committee and a group of Polling Officers within Constituency 123. This event, which took place over the weekend at the Foulah Town community hall, is a significant milestone in the party’s commitment to upholding its March 2022 constitution, particularly Chapter 6, Articles 59-65.

The newly formed Disciplinary Committee, comprising 15 members, along with 71 Polling Officers drawn from across the constituency’s two wards, have been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the party’s values and regulations are upheld during both national and internal elections. These officers are tasked with serving the party faithfully across the country during electoral processes.

At the endorsement ceremony, APC National Legal Representative, Lawyer Africanus Sorie Sesay, emphasized the critical role of the Disciplinary Committee in fostering unity within the party. He encouraged members to bring their grievances to the committee rather than seeking redress through the High Court, thereby promoting internal conflict resolution. Sesay assured party members that the committee’s decisions are not final; if dissatisfied, members have the right to appeal to higher disciplinary committees within the party before seeking external legal recourse.

Lawyer Mohamed Alie Mogaji, who is also a Member of Parliament for Constituency 123, reiterated the importance of the committee’s work, particularly in ensuring that all election-related issues are handled fairly and transparently. He warned against the misuse of the selection clause during elections, stating that the new constitution has established a democratic platform for all registered members, regardless of their status, tribe, or region.

The event was well-attended, with APC members across the constituency expressing their support for the newly established committees. The formation of these committees is seen as a progressive move that aligns with the APC’s dedication to reinforcing its internal democratic structures and ensuring accountability within the party.
