Honourable Chericoco Officially Steps Down as Deputy Leader of APC

 

On October 10, 2024, Honourable Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah, popularly known as Chericoco, officially stepped down from his position as Deputy Leader of the All People’s Congress (APC) party, in accordance with Article 47 of the APC’s 2022 Constitution. The handover ceremony, held at the party’s headquarters, marked the conclusion of Chericoco’s tenure as a key figure in the party's leadership.


During the symbolic event, Chericoco handed over the keys to the office suites of the Deputy Leader to Secretary General Lansana Dumbuya. The ceremony took place in the presence of the National Chairman, Hon. Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, and senior members of the party’s National Advisory Council (NAC). Notable APC figures in attendance included Dr. Samura Kamara, Ambassador Osman Foday Yansaneh, National Publicity Secretary Sidi Yayah Tunis, Deputy Organising Secretary Cherno C.S. Kamara, and other prominent members of the party.

In his farewell address, Chericoco expressed profound gratitude to the APC leadership and the party’s membership for entrusting him with the opportunity to serve. He reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the APC and expressed his readiness to continue serving in any capacity the party may require of him in the future. His heartfelt gesture of placing his hand on his chest during his speech symbolized his deep connection to the party's values and mission.


Chericoco's contributions to both the APC and Sierra Leonean politics have been substantial. As a three-time Member of Parliament and two-time running mate to Dr. Samura Kamara, his departure from the Deputy Leader position marks the start of a new chapter in his political journey. His tenure has left an indelible impact on the party's leadership and strategy.

The APC leadership acknowledged Chericoco’s invaluable contributions, recognizing his dedication to advancing the party’s goals and fortifying its leadership. His efforts in shaping the party’s strategic direction and championing its core values have been instrumental in its growth.


Following the handover ceremony, Chericoco demonstrated his ongoing commitment to the party by attending the launch of the two-day National Women’s Congress Conference at the APC Headquarters. His presence underscored his continued dedication to promoting unity and fostering collaboration within the party.
